HALLOWEEN is noted not just by the proliferation of pumpkins on the High Street but also the raft of horror or suspense movies that flood cinemas up and down the country in the week leading up to and following All Hallows.

2016 appears to buck the trend then, with only Ouija: Origin of Evil hitting the big-screens.

Admittedly the film, which details the work of a fake medium (Elizabeth Reaser) and her two daughters (Annalise Basso and the phantasmagorical Lulu Wilson) and the fall-out when they trial a Ouija board in their routine and accidentally summon up the actual dead, is a bit loose in terms of construction, acting (especially the adults) and common sense (would a priest take part in a seance led by an underage girl and offer only a critical appreciation of the plusses and minuses of the performance?).

But for primal, paralysing chills, the type that makes your body seize up and relax with awe-inspiring discomfort, I recommend this, if only for the stout of heart amongst you. For more, read the full review: bit.ly/OuijaFilm2016
