A CLOSE harmony, eclectic, semi-acoustic piano-led wonder, Mumbo-Jumbo, who play original and rarely heard stuff in their own inimitable style, will be at The Room Upstairs at the Palace Theatre, Redditch on Friday, April 8 from 7.45pm.
Mumbo-Jumbo features three top Midlands acoustic musicians/vocalists to produce an eclectic acoustic sound that is all their own, playing festivals, blues, acoustic and folk clubs, theatres, weekenders and pubs across the country.
The band’s CD ’Life of Riley’ has had rave reviews for its musicianship and its song writing, plenty of radio airplay and has gained the band a nomination in the British Blues Awards for Best Original Song/Songwriter.
Mumbo-Jumbo’s recent festivals schedule included the Great British R&B Festival, Birmingham Jazz, Upton Blues, Bromsgrove Folk, Monmouth Music and Hay Philosophy Festival. The trio has also played a number of major theatres and arts centres, and has recently branched out into a small number of workshops for schools
Mumbo-Jumbo features Oliver Carpenter on vocals, trumpet and percussion, Chris Lomas on bass, ukelele and vocals and Phil Bond on piano, squeezebox and vocals.
