SCOTTISH writer Liz Lochhead is heading to the Artrix later this month as part of the WORDS programme.

The nationally celebrated poet and playwright will be giving a talk as part of the literary celebration

A graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, she lectured in fine arts for eight years before becoming a professional writer, and in 2005 she became the Poet Laureate for Glasgow.

Liz held that position until 2011, when she stepped down to take up the title of Scots Makar, the Scottish national poet, taking on the title following the death of Edwin Morgan.

WORDS was founded in Bromsgrove in 1979, and since then has been presenting an annual programme of talks and performances showcasing new writing as well as exploring international literary heritage.

Liz Lochhead will be at the Artrix on Sunday, November 15 from 7.30pm. Tickets for the events are unallocated and can be purchased for £12 from the Artrix box office or from the WORDS ticket secretary on 0121 4453485.
