THE opening of the latest season of chamber concerts from a Bromsgrove organisation returns with a performance from the Carducci String Quartet.

The quartet will be appearing at Bromsgrove Concerts on Friday, September 25, at the Artrix theatre in School Drive, playing three of Shostakovich string quartets.

The group is currently involved in the 2015 Shostakovich Experience playing all of his quartets in different concert clubs around the country, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the composer’s death.

“Shostakovich is one of the musical giants of the 20th century,” says Janet Upward of the organising committee for Bromsgrove concert.

“The Carducci Quartet’s visit to Bromsgrove is a great opportunity to hear three of his quartets in one concert and should make for a rewarding and thrilling listening experience.”

The concerts starts at 8pm.

Tickets cost £18, £5 for concessions which includes disabled, unemployed or full time students over 25-years-old.

Young people under 25 are admitted free to all concerts thanks to the Cavatina Chamber Music Trust.
