RESIDENTS are being invited to a free pop up model railway show in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Organised by members of the Redditch Model Railway Club a number of layouts will be set up for the show in an empty shop unit in Walford Walk.

Designed as a friendly event where people can find out more about the club, there will be the chance to see members operating trains and even people having a go themselves.

Guy Craddock, club secretary, said: “This event is great opportunity for the visitors and shoppers at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre to see our layouts operating at first hand in an unusual setting."

The Redditch Model Railway Club was formed in 1967 and the club staged its first show nearly fifty years ago in the old Kingfisher Hall, which the shopping centre takes its name from and was demolished many years ago to make way for the Kingfisher Shopping Centre.

Latter in the year visitors will have the opportunity to see even more layouts and displays at the annual Redditch Model Railway exhibition which takes place on September 21 and 22 at Trinity High School.

The pop up event is on Saturday and Sunday, August 22 and 23.

It will be open from 9am until 5pm on Saturday and from 10.30am until 4.30pm on Sunday.
