A SAVOURY tale about the nation’s favourite dish, fish and chips, will be coming to Rowney Green.

One of Each, performed by Mikron Theatre Company, is a story about storms at sea, saucy secrets and sibling rivalry.

The company, which tour most of the year on board a vintage narrowboat, put on shows in places that other theatre companies wouldn’t dream of.

These have included a play about growing-your-own shown in allotments, a play about bees performed next to hives, a play about food to audiences in fields and farm shops and now… a play about fish and chips which will be shown outside a pub.

Sir Caspian Delamere is a man on a mission, to find the finest fish and chips in Britain.

He's narrowed it down to two vendors - finalists for his Golden fish-fork award.

By coincidence The Pickled Egg and The Silver Darling are rival establishments run by twins.

Unable to agree on the best way to cook this iconic dish, they went their separate ways years ago, and now they find their food and their philosophies in direct competition.

Which portion will prevail?

One of Each uncovers the history of fish and chips, and how they’ve become a national icon.

Like all of Mikron’s shows it does this at a cracking pace, with plenty of humour, live music and memorable characters.

The show is at The Goat and Trousers in Rowney Green Lane on Sunday, August 30 starting at 7.30pm.

This is an outdoor show, although there will be shelter available in case of wet weather, so people are being urged to dress appropriately for a British summer's evening.
