HAGLEY is set to rock at a new music festival which will offer summer family fun in the heart of the village.

Hagfest, on Saturday July 4, will take place from noon to 8pm at Hagley playing fields on Worcester Road to raise cash for improvements at the neighbouring community centre.

The event is being organised with help from Base Studios in Stourbridge and aims to replace the traditional village fete with something to appeal to a wider audience.

Hagfest organizer, Fran Evans, said: “We hope people are as excited as we are about this event which is the first of its kind for Hagley.

“As well as our fantastic performers there will be a laser-tag arena, bouncy castle and slide, bungee slide for the kids and a variety of activities and stalls for all age ranges, including street food, burgers, ice-cream and Pimms.

“The Two Crafty Brewers from Belbroughton Beer Festival are taking care of the beer tent for us, so we know we are in good hands.”

A line-up of ten acts has been confirmed for the event including Amy Winehouse tribute act Vanessa Lee, live-wire cow-punk band Rhino and the Ranters and acoustic duo Tale Lights from Bewdley, who recently opened a show for Take That.

X-factor star Danny Dearden will be at Hagfest and the event will be headlined by Stourbridge band The Spacehoppers, whose mix of rock, pop and Motown has been packing out Black Country venues for a decade.

Sarah Evans, from Base Studios, added: “Tickets are a fantastic price considering you’d pay around the same prices to see many of our individual performers play for just a couple of hours. Hagfest comprises a whole afternoon’s entertainment.

“Early bird tickets which are on-sale now are currently much cheaper than the on-the-day prices; you can save almost £10 on a family ticket by buying in advance online. Tickets are currently on sale online hagfest.co.uk at the early-bird price of £5 for a child, £10 for an adult and just £26 for a family ticket.”
