IT is the second bank holiday in May, and once more, Barnstormers is on hand to liven up the proceedings with the very best up-and-coming comedians.

More great acts from the London and national comedy circuit will be coming to Bromsgrove's Artrix auditorium.

This month compere Kevin Precious introduces the fabulously physical storyteller Paul Pirie.

Described as “a hilarious rubber-faced clown”, Paul began his stand-up career after giving up acting to pursue the funny man that lies within, quickly establishing himself on the Scottish comedy circuit as long ago as 2004.

It should be pointed out that at the time he was living with his Gran, having given away the keys to his flat in a pub quiz.

Since then Paul’s career has encompassed TV, film and radio alongside his burgeoning skill as a stand-up with Paul emerging as one of the biggest Scottish acts on the UK comedy circuit.

He has had a consecutive succession of sell out shows at The Glasgow Comedy Festival and joined esteemed popular comedy-improv group Dance Monkey Boy, Dance! (also featuring Raymond Mearns), and has helped with the development of the group.

In 2006 the group caught the attention of BBC Radio who recorded the show at the Glasgow Comedy Festival and since then, Dance Monkey Boy, Dance! have gone on to work under the watchful eye of the BBC to develop regular radio shows.

Other comedians appearing are globetrotting comic Nick Wilty, and laconic raconteur David Whitney.

The show is on Saturday, May 23 from 8pm.
