A BROMSGROVE choir managed to hit a high note when it took part in a recent singing competition.

The singers in the Kids of the Mids choir included staff, foster carers and looked after children from Foster Care Associates (FCA), which is celebrating its 21th anniversary this year.

The choir competed against 14 others in the Big Sing Off competition held at the Chateau Impney in Droitwich on April 18.

Choirs wowed the judges and a 600 strong audience with their energetic interpretation of the theme for the event - songs from the movies.

On the judging panel was classical soprano Claire Delaney and Adam Treadaway, assistant conductor with The National Youth Choirs of Great Britain.

The Kids of the Mids performed the Jungle Book, and although not the winning performance they received a standing ovation, with the judges saying it was one of the most colourful and energetic.

Kate Taylor, from FCA Midlands and choir master for the event, said: “I’m extremely proud of everyone in the choir.

"It’s been a really positive and at times quite emotional experience for the young people, carers and staff involved.

"Although we didn’t win, the event was a wonderful celebration of the great things we do at FCA for our staff, carers and children they look after.”

Judge Daniel Thomas added: "Having been lucky enough to be a judge at this year’s event it was a tremendously positive experience.

"The Kids from the Mids enthusiastic performance and musical interpretation really stood out, and certainly had the audience on their feet.”
