TALL stories will be the order of the day when a flavour of the Banff Mountain Film Festival drops in locally on its world tour.

Hitting the big screen at the Malvern Theatres cinema at the end of the month will be big stories from the festival that will allow filmgoers to travel the world and experience a selection of inspirational, exhilarating and unforgettable adventures from the comfort of their theatre chair.

Banff provides the world’s most prestigious mountain film festival and Malvern has been fortunate in capturing two evenings of extraordinary short films that follow the expeditions of some of today’s most incredible adventurers. The films reveal incredible footage of adrenaline packed action sports and thought-provoking pieces shot from the far flung corners of the globe.

The two nights of action, on Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28, will feature two unique programmes that will showcases a diverse collection of the best and latest films from the world-wide mountain sports community. The two-and-a-half-hour programme has been selected from more than 370 films which were entered into the prestigious Banff Festival, held in the Canadian Rockies last November.

Audiences will be able to watch paragliding through the Alps, mountain biking on the Isle of Skye, surfing in the Arctic Circle, ski-ing in Patagonia, kayaking in Canada’s British Columbia and much more.

Aimed mainly at people with a wide range of outdoor passions, the popularity of the UK and Ireland leg of the Banff World Tour can easily be gauged with this year’s tour expected to bring together more than 45,000 adventure lovers.

The 2015 highlights include – The Ridge, in which world renowned trials rider Danny MacAskill returns to his native Isle of Skye for a new challenge when he rides a mountain bike on the notorious death-defying Cuillin Ridgeline and Drawn – which covers four years, four cardinal points and four epic adventures. Acclaimed climber and artist Jeremy Collins embarks on four journeys, from the Venezuelan Amazon, to the China-Mongolian Border, to the northern reaches of Canada, and to Yosemite Valley in California. This powerful adventure, with the death of a friend, the struggle of a tribe and the celebration of life, changes everything.
