A BROMSGROVE arts centre is relaunching an initiative for older audiences.

The Friday Films scheme sees films being screened in an afternoon time slot, usually 2pm, on Friday afternoons at the Artrix in School Drive.

The afternoon timing means patrons can come along a bit earlier, meeting friends in the foyer cafe and having a chat before the film.

The ticket price includes a free hot drink and biscuits.

A spokesman from the Artrix said: "Artrix is perceived by many older patrons as a safe and welcoming venue.

"It is within easy travelling distance from several care homes and residential settings for older people and a level walk for those who are more mobile.

"Our staff are always more than happy to assist patrons with disabilities or particular needs; the kind of personal service which only a smaller local venue can offer."

Staff at the venue are also working with the Alzheimer’s Society to train staff as Dementia Friends so that they have an understanding of dementia, and to ensure the venue is welcoming to those affected by the condition.

Flyers are available with details of the spring season of the initiative and and groups are being encouraged to organise outings.

To book tickets call the Artrix's box office on 01527 577330 between 10am and 4pm, or visit artrix.co.uk.
