ELECTROPOP musician Lights will be coming to Birmingham in support of her new album.

The up-and-coming Lights, born Valerie Anne Poxleitner, is a Canadian singer and songwriter best known for singles including Drive My Soul, Ice, and Second Go.

Starting in early 2008, Lights toured cities in both Canada and the United States before embarking on a tour with contemporary synthpop artist Owl City in Canada, the United States, and Europe.

The new album, Little Machines, represents a self-assured expansion upon everything the diminutive singer has done before.

The album is a gleaming, groundbreaking, generously tuneful slab of brightly hued 21st -century techno-pop.

It follows Lights’s last outing, 2011’s Siberia, a strikingly ambitious sophomore LP lauded by critics and fans alike.

Lights will headline Academy 3 in Birmingham on January 30.
