STAFF at a local building society are hoping to warm the hearts of customers by selling home baked treats to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society this week.

The West Brom on Evesham Walk in Redditch is hosting a ‘Winter Warmer’ cake and coffee day this Friday, December 5, with all proceeds going towards supporting people affected by dementia.

Branch manager David Peckham said: “Alzheimer’s Society is our charity of the year and we hope this latest fundraising event will help us brew up a tasty total on their behalf.

“With Christmas fast approaching we’ll be trying to capture the festive spirit and taking a moment to think about those individuals and families having to cope with dementia, which can be particularly challenging at this time of year.”

Marc Shaw, Alzheimer's Society's community fundraiser for the West Midlands, added: “We are extremely grateful to the West Brom and its customers for their continued support of Alzheimer’s Society.

"Their efforts will not only help to support people with dementia and their carers, but also raise awareness of the condition which affects over 73,000 people in the West Midlands.”
