ONE of the best Ska tribute bands will be coming to Redditch.

The Superskas are an energetic nine-piece band, complete with horn section and male and female vocalists who perform authentic covers of Ska classics guaranteed to fill the dance-floor.

Covering hits from first wave artists, Toots & the Maytals and Desmond Dekker, through to second wave artists, The Specials, Madness and everything in-between – The Superskas pride themselves on being the ultimate tribute to Ska and 2tone.

In their 10 years together the Superskas live highlights include performing with Damon Albarn of Blur, appearing at the Specials after-party and supporting Steel Pulse, Musical Youth and Apache Indian.

The Superskas have also enjoyed headlining numerous festivals and corporate events across the UK and have played sold out shows at the Wulfrun hall and Robin 2 in their native West Midlands.

Andy Hess, a long time aficionado of Ska, founded the Band in 2004.

He was joined by Ted Davies, Lorraine Stewart, Scotland B and Roger Westwood.

Brian Wright, known as BeeDubya and later just Dubbs, joined Ted and Lorraine on Vocals.

In 2009, they found a couple of itinerant brass players at a beer festival and welcomed Alun David and David Hipkiss.

In the summer of 2014 Lorraine left the band and was replaced by Sharodene Mellis on vocals along with the addition of Mark Overton on Saxophone.

Various eminent local characters can be seen from time to time guesting at the Superskas notorious live shows.

To see the band in action, they will be playing at The Warwick Bar & Club on Friday, September 26 from 10pm.
