AS part of the development of the Kingfisher Shopping Centre’s new leisure quarter, The Hub, Nando’s has officially opened its doors to hungry residents.

Home of legendary Portuguese flame-grilled PERi-PERi chicken, the brand new restaurant opens its doors to the public today Wednesday, April 2.

Nando’s is the latest addition to the centre's new leisure quarter and will seat 172 guests at any time.

The new Nando’s has also brought a total of 35 new jobs to the area, ranging from cashiers and grillers, through to assistant managers.

Karen French, regional MD of Nando’s, said: “We’re delighted to be opening the doors to our new restaurant in Redditch - a town that’s been on our radar for some time.

“The Kingfisher Shopping Centre is a fantastic location and will offer shoppers, locals and visitors to the area a memorable Nando’s experience.”

In true Nando’s style, bright, African inspired artwork is featured throughout the restaurant.

Kingfisher Shopping Centre general manager Ken Williams said: “It is great to have Nando’s as the first restaurant to open in the Kingfisher Shopping Centre’s new leisure Hub.

"Our £2m investment to attract a new generation of quality restaurants to Redditch is proving to be very popular with our shoppers and its great to have Nandos lead the way.”

The Advertiser reported last year that Nandos and oriental buffet chain Real China will both occupy 4,000 sq ft in The Hub.

The restaurants will trade alongside a seven screen Vue cinema and a Pure Gym which signed for a 16,000 sq ft fitness centre.

The centre contains more than 160 high-street retailers in a two-level, 920,000 sq ft mall. The centre sees more than 185,000 visitors per week, shopping at stores such as Debenhams, M&S, Primark, Next, New Look, BHS, TK Maxx and Wilkinsons.
