MASK theatre is an unusual and demanding art so Feckenham Village Hall is delighted to welcome the country’s acknowledged front runner in this field.

Strangeface Theatre Company last came to Feckenham in 2009 when the group enthralled a packed house with their version of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The group's new show, Shooting The Moon, has taken nearly five years to devise and build and includes detailed modelling, inventive characters, great plot and magical settings.

The show is a startling tribute to one of the 20th century’s most influential fantasists - Georges Méliès.

A visionary who combined his passion for stage magic with early motion pictures, Méliès’ astounding images entranced audiences and still inspire today.

Told through a series of unreliable and often hilarious dreams using masks, puppetry and amazing special effects, Shooting The Moon reveals how Méliès escaped his apprenticeship as a boot maker and the wild energy and madcap antics that drove him to fame and obscurity - and back again.

Funny, poignant and visually enthralling, this is a tale of an extraordinary life in exceptional times.

Ian Bellion, from Feckenham Village Hall, said: "Book now for a highly original and memorable night out. And you’re all invited to go backstage after the show to see how it’s done. We promise that you’ll be amazed."

The show, on Sunday, April 6 at 7.30pm, is the latest from Shindig - Worcestershire’s performing arts scheme – dedicated to providing the very best professional shows to local venues.

It is sponsored by The Arts Council, Worcestershire County Council and Redditch Borough Council.

Tickets cost £10 and are on sale at the Village Shop and The Rose and Crown in Feckenham or from ticketsource.co.uk/feckenham or 0333 6663366.
