Identity issues

A NEW innovative and refreshing drama, Us and Our Education', will be coming to the Artrix theatre in Bromsgrove on Wednesday May 7.

The drama explores the complexities of identity which face adults with learning disabilities and is the result of weekly workshops between Theatre and Media students at NEW College, adults with learning disabilities from across the county and the award-winning Women in Theatre'.

Funded by NEW College and the Local Authority Agencies the play aims to raise awareness to the issues around education inequalities faced by adults with learning disabilities.

The production will also include a post-show discussion to help answer any questions which may have been raised during the performance.

The drama will be followed by the launch of a training DVD which will be used to train social workers and carers, helping to develop a better understanding of societal barriers imposed upon people with learning disabilities and impairments.

There will be an afternoon matinee at 2pm, which is complimentary, but tickets should be pre-booked to ensure admission.

There is also an evening show at 7pm, where tickets are £3.

For more information, or to pre-book tickets please call the Artrix box office on 01527 577330.
