The latest resulted in a success rate of 79 per cent. All the lots offered on behalf of Birmingham City Council sold. Ninety per cent of the 66 residential vacant properties were also snapped up.

20 Rodney Close, Ladywood, a four-bedroom end terrace, made £126,000 off a guide of £50,000. 120 Knowle Road, Sparkhill, a mid-terrace, sold for £102,000 from a guide of £50,000. 31 Third Avenue, Bordesley Green, a three-bedroom mid-terrace, sold for £95,000 off a guide of £50,000 to £55,000.

51 Peakhouse Road, Great Barr, a four-bedroom semi-detached, was one of the most popular lots with more than 100 viewings. The outcome was a price of £192,000 off a guide of £94,000-£99,000. 59 Hembs Crescent, Great Barr, a three-bedroom semi-detached, guide £39,000 to £44,000, sold for £110,000.

1 Wolverley Road, Solihull, a three-bedroom semi-detached, guide price £89,000 to £99,000, went for £185,000.

77 Worcester Road, Hagley, a detached dormer bungalow, in excess of £150,000, sold for £252,000.

24 Dawson Street, Walsall, a three-bedroom semi-detached, guide price £19,000 to £24,000, hit £71,000.

Wolverhampton properties included 186 Waterloo Road, guide price £50,000, a three bedroom semi-detached close to Wolverhampton University, sold for £105,000.

124 Fraser Street, two bedroom mid-terrace, (guide £19,000 to £24,000), sold for £60,000.

48 Castle View Road, (guide £29,000 to £34,000), three bedroom semi-detached, £73,000 5 Perry Avenue, three bedroom semi-detached, (guide £29,000 to £34,000), £85,000.

9 Bristol Street, freehold residential investment, (guide £29,000 to £34,000), £84,000, 4 Sutherland Road, Goldthorn, four bedroom detached, (guide, in excess of £99,000), £170,000.

53 Rudge Avenue, three bedroom semi-detached, (guide £29,000 to £34,000), £81,000.

Brierley Hill properties included 27 Leys Road, a three-bedroom mid-terrace, (guide price £19,000 to £24,000), sold for £55,500, while No.29 next door, a two-bedroom end terrace, made £54,000 off the same guide.

A two-bedroom mid-terrace at 50 Campbell Street, guide £19,000 to £24,000, sold for £59,000.

On the commercial property front, the Vets 4 Pets building at 71 Lichfield Road, Shelfield, did well, reaching £361,000 off a guide of £280,000 to £300,000.

The Old Chapel, St Giles Street, Netherton, which dates back to 1810, (guide, in excess of £75,000), saw the hammer come down at £132,000, but there were no celebrations at the former Highgate Brewery, Mount Road, Walsall, (guide, in excess of £850,000), which failed to find a buyer, the last bid being £800,000.

Land sales attracted considerable interest – land adjacent to 128 Aston Church Road, Nechells, guide price £20,000, sold for £154,000, land to the rear of 318-326 Brook Lane, Billesley, guide price £25,000, sold for £83,000, and land off Romney, Belgrave, Tamworth, sold for £51,000 off a guide of £5,000.
