Six local residents have been chosen as winners in the ‘Life in Hagley’ Art Competition launched by CALA Homes to celebrate the success of its popular Wychbury Fields development in the town. Amateur artists from Hagley Art Club were asked to depict what living in Hagley means to them, with Hagley Hall, woodland scenes, bluebells and Hagley High Street all featuring in the winning entries. First prize of £100 art vouchers went to Ann Becke for ‘The Walk’, second place was awarded to Ann Cooke for ‘One Man’s Dream’ and in third place was Martin Jones with ‘Hagley Gateway’. Three runner up prizes were also awarded to Bridget Rochford, Bob Truman and Mike Spencer.

Robert Monkman, sales and marketing director for CALA Homes Midlands, said: “Hagley is an outstanding village with a wealth of history and lots to offer. Our competition aimed to bring to life what local residents love about the village and what living here means to them.

“We had some wonderful entries and choosing the winners was extremely difficult. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who took such time and effort to enter the competition. Each of the pieces really summed up why Hagley is so popular, with its great range of amenities, places of interest and picturesque surroundings.”

Sue Merrill, Chairman of Hagley Art Club said: “Hagley offers some great inspiration and we had a lot of fun with this competition. It was lovely to see common themes such as Hagley Hall running through all the entries, but with each artist’s individual interpretation. Each of the winners were delighted to be chosen and the art vouchers were very much appreciated.” The winning entries are now on display in the sales centre at CALA’s Wychbury Fields development. Wychbury Fields is a development of 192 two, three, four and five bedroom homes, catering for everyone from first time buyers to larger families. Located on the border of Hagley village, on land that was previously part of Lord Cobham’s estate, Wychbury Fields extends for 30 acres, offering generous plot sizes and is surrounded by mature woodland.
