Jack Haughey has written and illustrated the book Sam’s Dream.

The 21-year-old, who has worked at Webbs in Wychbold for five years, says he hopes it will be the first of many as he has other ideas in the pipeline.

“The story was inspired by an article I read about children as young as four suffering from depression,” he said.

“It revolves around the main character, Sam, as his dreaming helps him recover.

“I have had a lot of positive feedback about the book which has been really uplifting.

“When I saw it printed and bound for the first time I felt amazing.”

Jack, who is also in the final year of studying illustration at the University of Worcester, said he had two other stories he wants to turn into books, but he is keeping them close to his chest until he puts pen to paper.

Ed Webb, executive chairman of the family-run firm, said, “It’s marvellous to hear of a young person doing something really worthwhile.

“To combine creating the book and working at Webbs has taken lots of really hard work and commitment from Jack and we wish him every success.”

The book is available to purchase from Webbs, and Blurb.com.
