A NEW Assistant Chief Constable (ACC) joined the Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police Alliance this week.

Karen Manners, the new ACC with responsibility for Protective Services for the Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Alliance, took up her post on June 6.

ACC Manners was appointed following a stringent selection process involving Warwickshire Police Authority's Appointments and Remuneration Committee together with Chief Constables Andy Parker and David Shaw and Police Authority chairs Phil Robson and Sheila Blagg.

She joins the Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Alliance from Hampshire Constabulary where she has worked since 1989. Prior to that she served three years with the Metropolitan Police.

This is the second senior "alliance" appointment in the past week,it is clear that West Mercia and Warwickshire Police will soon become one force.As we have these new appointments,presuma
ebly the current assistant chief constables in both forces are now to be made redundant as there is no need for them?
