More streets than last year have already signed up to June's Big Worcestershire Garage Sale.

Over 60 streets have registered for the event on June 8, say organisers at Nicol & Co estate agents, surpassing last year’s tally of 45 streets.

This year includes debutant entrants from Malvern, and several others across Worcestershire have shown initial interest.

Matt Nicol, managing director of Nicol & Co, still encourages more streets to join with four weeks to go.

Mr Nicol said: "Everyone enjoyed a wonderful day last year, and we were hoping for an even bigger and better event for 2024.

"We’re therefore thrilled that we have more than 60 streets taking part this year, a figure which is already larger than last year’s, and with four weeks still to go."

Launched last June, the garage sale day enables homeowners across the county to declutter their homes and sell unwanted items.

Vicki Sawyer, a previous participant from Henley Drive in Droitwich, looks forward to joining again this year.

She said: "Last year was fantastic.

" I set up from 10am to 4pm and got lots of visitors in the glorious sunshine, so hopefully the weather will be on our side again this year.

“It was great getting to know the neighbours, so when people came I’d have a bit of a chat and chinwag about where they’d come from."

Participants receive hints and tips to assist household sorting and packaging.

Nicol & Co are also offering signage and marketing support to promote participating streets.

Mr Nicol added: "The ‘Big Worcestershire Garage Sale’ has already proved itself as a great way for people to sell items they no longer needed, at the same time making some extra money.

"Importantly, people also enjoyed getting to know neighbours and visitors on their drives and front gardens, and it’s this community networking that is one of the most important aspects of the day."

Organisers are inviting as many neighbours as possible across Droitwich, Worcester, Malvern, and surrounding areas to sign up before May 29.
